PLEASE NOTE TEMPORARY CHANGE DURING COVID19 - ALL GP APPOINTMENTS WILL BE TELEPHONE TRIAGED INITIALY AND POTENTIALLY A FACE TO FACE APPOINTMENT MAY BE OFFERED THIS IS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
All GP surgeries are by appointment only and appointments are made available each day although a few will be available to pre-book. Urgent cases will always be seen the same day but you may need to wait until the end of the surgery and you may be asked for a few details so that the doctors can triage the urgency beforehand. You may consult with whichever doctor you wish, you do not need to see the same one each time. Children under the age of 5 years will always be seen the same day if it is urgent. Note that, especially during the summer, when doctors and nurses are on annual leave there may not be as many appointments available as usual but we will try our very best to accommodate patients.
Nurse appointments need to be pre-booked. It is rare for appointments to be available for nurses on the day unless there have been any cancellations.
Online booking is available via the link at the top of this page.If you are interested in registering for this service please contact reception and you will be given instructions how to register. Read more HERE.
If we have a mobile telephone number on record for you, you should receive a text message appointment reminder the day before. If you need to cancel your appointment you can do so by replying the the text message sent with the word CANCEL. PLEASE make sure we have up-to-date contact details - obviously if we have the wrong mobile number or no number at all, you will not receive these reminders.
Telephoning the Doctor
If you would like to speak to the doctor please telephone reception and request that a doctor rings you back when they are free. You will be asked by the receptionist for basic details as to what the call is about so that the doctor knows why they are ringing you and to allow them to triage the urgency of their call list.
Children under 5 years of age
If parents or guardians of children under 5 years of age feel that they need to be seen urgently, they will be seen on the same day or a doctor will speak to the parents to decide what the best care should be. If this is the case please ensure that you let reception know the age of your child - again you may be asked a few questions as to what the problem is so that the receptionist can pass that information on to the doctors who will then decide when to fit you in.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. We require at least 30 minutes notice to cancel appointments, otherwise it will be marked down as a non-attendance. This is to allow us time to hopefully use the appointment again for someone else.
If you get text message reminders of your appointment you can always cancel simply by replying CANCEL to the message - again this will only work if we have at least 30 minutes notice. (Please note that appointments cannot be made by text message)
Improving Access - evening and weekend appointments
Patients registered at this practice who are unable to attend during normal surgery hours due to work etc. can pre-book appointments to see a GP weekday evenings (after 6.30pm) or at the weekend (Saturday or Sunday). These appointments will be at either the ICC in Oldham, Royton Health & Wellbeing Centre or Failsworth Health Centre. Ring 0161 934 2827 to book an appointment.
In January 41 appointments were wasted by patients failing to attend. If you cannot attend for an appointment, please ring and cancel it in good time so that it can be used for someone else.
If you receive a text message reminder for your appointment you can always cancel it simply by replying CANCEL to the message.
